Location: KY3 0SL (map and directions)  Aberdour Castle © Andy Hawkins History of Aberdour CastleAberdour was held by the Douglas, Earls of Morton in the 14th century who used the castle as a second home until 1642. At this point a fire destroyed their primary residence of Dalkeith House, and Aberdour became their main residence until 1725. The family moved into Aberdour House nearby, and Aberdour Castle was left to ruin.Map and directionsToday Aberdour Castle is a Historic Scotland property and is open to the public all year round.
